Are you dreaming of building a career path but you’re not sure where to start? You’re not alone. Here at Compass, we work on equipping young adults in Lancaster with resources and help them prepare for a career path they’ll thrive in.
Choosing a career path can be challenging, especially when you’re not sure where to begin. But with the right guidance, you can find a direction that aligns with your passions and strengths. For many young adults, starting a career path means exploring different fields and understanding what they genuinely enjoy. This journey can take time, but resources like job shadowing, skills training, and career assessments can help you narrow down your interests. Building a career you love is about finding balance—between personal fulfillment and professional growth—while setting goals you can work toward with confidence.
For those who have faced additional hurdles, such as going to school after juvenile detention, finding the right support can make all the difference. Charter schools often provide an encouraging environment where students can work at their own pace, access one-on-one mentorship, and gain skills that will open doors to future opportunities. Here, every student is seen as an individual with unique talents and potential, and the focus remains on building a foundation for long-term success, whether through college, apprenticeships, or immediate career entry.
Valuable resources through weekly gatherings
One of the key ways we do this is through our weekly gatherings where we offer valuable resources and training for young adults.
Every Wednesday evening at Compass, located at 131 South Prince Street in Lancaster, PA, we create a welcoming space for young adults to gather and explore everything from their faith to their interests, hobbies and what a career path may look like for them.
We frequently invite guest speakers who share their expertise on important topics like:
- Financial planning
- Career development
- Personal growth
And much more! During these gatherings, young adults are able to ask questions, seek guidance, and be part of the conversation.
Connections to local colleges
In addition to our weekly meetings, we also leverage our connections with local universities and colleges to expose young adults to a diverse range of educational opportunities in the Lancaster County area.
Whether you’re looking to refine your vocational skills, explore a new career path or a cool idea, or simply seek guidance on your professional journey, we would love to be here and support you every step of the way. Doing life with others and engaging in the local community is at the heart of what we do at Compass.
We believe in the power of community and the importance of fostering an inclusive environment where young adults can thrive and grow in their personal journeys.
