Water Street Mission Calls on Community to Collect 80,000 lbs. of Food for Rescue Mission Food Drive

Lancaster, PA (October 2024) – Water Street Mission is offering a challenge to the Lancaster County community as it kicks off one of its most important campaigns of the year.

The goal of the 2024 annual food drive is 80,000 lbs. of non-perishable food. Rescue Mission Food Drive (RMFD) begins on October 30th, 2024, runs until December 22, 2024, and takes place across Lancaster County.

To achieve such widespread outreach, Water Street Mission is partnering with local businesses and individuals for a massive campaign to fuel their yearlong efforts to provide food for those in need. All donations can be dropped off at Water Street Mission’s campus or one of our participating locations. A list of drop-off locations and accepted items can be found at rescuemissionfooddrive.org.

Each year, Water Street Mission aims to inspire generosity and connect the community to the impact of the organization’s mission. Water Street Mission provides nearly 10,000 meals a month in its dining hall and distributes groceries to thousands of members of the community each month through the Outreach Center. Every item counts and goes to help feed and support life-change for our own Lancaster County neighbors, who have a chance to enroll in classes and counseling and engage more deeply in learning and growth.

“Each year we look forward to Rescue Mission Food Drive as a tangible way our community can show love to those experiencing homelessness,” explains Jack Crowley, President of Water Street Mission. “The impact a meal can make in rejuvenating and showing love to someone in need is huge.  One meal can be the tipping point for someone deciding to reach out for help or take that next step to pursue a fuller life.”

RMFD is a critical campaign for Water Street Mission and widespread support is needed to reach the ambitious goal of 80,000 lbs. of food by December 22. Anyone interested in giving or hosting a food drive to have an even bigger impact should visit rescuemissionfooddrive.org to learn more.
