Nick Smith, Director at Compass, talks about how to find and build community as a young adult in Lancaster.
In today’s fast-paced world, one of the most challenging tasks for young adults is building and fostering meaningful in-person relationships. Yet, it’s these relationships that often bring fulfillment and joy in one’s life.
Community building as a young adult in Lancaster City
For many, finding that community of people, the kind of people that will stand with you, pray with you, laugh with you, hey, even go bowling with you, can be challenging. It can be hard to even know where and how to begin!
Building community as a young adult in Lancaster, or any other city for that matter, can be especially hard in a day and age where we often resort to our phones or digital communication rather than face-to-face interactions.
At Compass, we are dedicated to building a strong community of young adults. We meet weekly and we’re convinced that establishing genuine, in-person connections is critical in a time where we are seeing increased levels of loneliness. Within these communities, we find our purpose and vision, and we get to share experiences and walk through life’s joys and struggles together.
Where to start looking for a community
If you’re a young adult in Lancaster searching for ways to build community, you can start by looking for groups in your neighborhood and area, and we also encourage you to find a church home. You could even get involved in local events or causes that resonate with you.
We would also love to welcome you at Compass!
We’re a vibrant community of young people who meet every week. Our vision here at Compass is to empower and equip young adults through guidance and community to find and pursue their life calling while also having the opportunity to grow in discipleship and spiritual formation.
