Clothing a Community

As you can imagine, providing clothing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness is one of the vital functions of our initial rescue services. However, the volunteer and staff time needed to effectively manage the inventory and logistics involved can certainly be unwieldy.

Thankfully, with the opening of Community Aid’s Lancaster store in November, Water Street has been able to forge a partnership that ensures our guests continue to receive the clothing they need while relying on the Community Aid team to do what they do best. We also receive financial benefits:

  • In the past year, Water Street has received over $100,000 in grant money from Community Aid
  • We receive $ for every pound of clothing donated at a Water Street marked Community Aid Bin

You can help maximize our partnership by continuing to donate your gently used clothing at a Water Street/Community Aid bin or at the Community Aid bins located on our campus. You can also help by hosting a Community Aid bin at your church or business location. If you’re interested – or know someone who might be – please contact Amy Bartholomew at abartholomew@wsm.org or (717) 358-2032 for details.

New Donation Procedures

We’ve recently closed our donation dock. However, we still welcome your donations here at Water Street.

2) Food AND Everyday Essential items accepted Monday-Saturday, 6am-6pm at our Food Dock in Seiber Hall (entrance on Prince St. immediately past Farnum St.)
